The importance of the seat stays is thus: to assist with Dynamic Weight Transfer (DWT). However, the combination of seat stays and the hardness of the seat all have an impact upon the DWT Seat stays assist with the DWT when cornering, as there is no differential the chassis has to flex to enable effective cornering. It is not just limited to DWT, the Ackerman angle in the steering works in combination with the DWT to alleviate a need for a differential. I.E. Lifting the inside rear wheel off the ground whilst cornering. The process is described in many karting books as the Pendulum effect. The overriding control of DWT is controlled by the axle length. This is a simplistic explanation but I hope this helps. John
