The carb will need to be set differently for each carb, for each engine and even for each (and during each) race to get the absolute best out of it. This is because the carb has no means of compensating for the changes in engine, track and weather conditions except manual alterations.

The advice you have been given (1.5 turns) is 'the starting point'.

With the water-cooled engine (as against the old air-cooled Blue when carb management was a must) some drivers get it set right at the beginning and then leave it alone for the rest of the race.
