A lot of this depends on where you live. If you are within reasonable travelling distance of Rissington, Kimbolton, Shenington and Whilton then JTKM seems to have bigger grids than MiniMax but elsewhere it will be different.
The TAG engine should help to take people into JTKM plus there has been a lot of publicity with the rule changes.
Grid size is not everything. Is it better to race in a grid of 10 very good drivers rather than a grid of 30 poor drivers (no intention here to suggest any class has better drivers).
Minimax did start to get a reputation for `silly money' engines and maybe parents coming out of comer cadets are deciding to move to a class where they perceive that the chequebook is not so important.
