Externally there is nothing to indicate a Junior to an Extreme. If the exhaust bend is removed you can see if the piston has 2 rings (junior) or single ring (Extreme). If the head is removed a simple measure even with a ruler would show if it is around 51mm (junior) or 54 mm (Extreme). The piston size is stamped on the top of the piston and is usually still visible unless heavily carbonized.
The engine number is no indication as barrels can be changed.
