There were some high profile exclusions in France recently for polished exhausts. They were being polished to diguise the fact that the whole skin was being thinned down. Once you remove the original finish by any method you risk problems if and when you start winning and or drawing attention to yourself. If you can get away with a non standard chromed exhaust I would suggest that you are not quick enough yet to present anyone with a problem.
