I've only started this season, but a few things I've noticed...

If it doesn't hold any pressure at all it's generally the reason the engine has flooded and the kart won't start.

If it pops off slowly and takes a while to come down to pressure, never seems to run quite as sweet as the ones where it falls to the low setting fast.

Doesn't seem to matter if it leaks a bit after it has popped off.

The exact pressure for pop-off and holding don't make a difference that I can really notice - but then I'm new to all this.

Liam
