Davy - if you look in the front of the Blue book there is a sec tion at the front `Structure of the Sport' (motorsport not just karting). That shows the role of the MSA and nowhere does it mention that they are responsible for making classes successful - that is the job of the manufacturers and series promotors.
The MSA is just the governing body. IanB is probably far bertter placed to explain how things work between ABKC/MSa/Manufacturers/promotors as he is shown as a member of the kart sporting committee.
If you try to reduce the number of junior classes then how can you do it without leaving a lot of people with redundant equipment? I don't know anything about junior blue but TKM seems to have been around the longest so do you stop the Rotax classes or restrict Rotax to one junior class instead of two? Whatever is suggested will upset someone.
On the consultation side it is not just a case of the MSA putting it on their website. This has been mentioned in the news section of this forum and in the MSA newsletter that is sent to every licence holder. proposed changes are normalyy included in the ABKC newsletters which are displayed at every club. If the MSA had to write to every licence holder about every proposed change then our licence fees would increase substantially and i doubt they would even get many replies. As I have mentioned in other posts, last year i helped FKS with a questionnaire and they put in a lot of effort to ensure everyone received a questionnaire plus chased up for replies at their meetings and by email and it was still very difficult to get people to say what they wanted. I think this is the main reason we do not have a drivers association too much hassle and too many conflicting views.
