It goes without saying that to win at the highest level everything must be spot on with the chassis and tyres.

Ultimately though it all comes down to the driver and engine. How much time is there between a good and not so good engine? It's an endless argument, but in Cadets, small engine differences have a lot greater effect on lap times because they are flat out for a much higher percentage of the lap than bigger engines. I would say that this is significantly more than most would like to admit and or believe because the time on the brakes and part throttle where the driver can make big differences is very small. Certainly the difference in Cadet engines is bigger than the difference between a plain good and an exceptionally gifted driver, purely in terms of lap times of course. IMHO
