I've been using the same plug since october with no problems at all, after our kart is choked it will start 2nd pull 99% of the time touch wood.

First thing I'd be doing is taking the carb off and trying it on another engine.

Also,

Have you checked for air lock in the fuel line?
When was the last time your carb had a rebuild gasgets and needle and seat?
what fuel oil(shell M?) mix are you using?

Have you had the carb off the engine since the rebuild?

Been out in the wet without a wet box on?
