The Tryton as used in the UK gives better performance. When introduced both carbs were allowed for racing, but almost all competitors chose the Tryton over the Tillotson. Now only the Tryton is allowed.

The solid type clutch as used here needs very little maintenance and will give a performance gain when engaging at around 6,500. New clutches will engage at around 5,000 to 5,500 rpm, so a worn clutch works better in most situations. I don't know much about the sprung clutches, only that they last a very long time.
