Alan,
so correct me if I am wrong but what you are doing is minimising any potential voltage losses incurred by the wiring loom which I can see is a good idea in theory but is there any real gain and if so, how much please?
I would imagine this 'mod' would help the battery in that it might discharge more slowly?

Sorry to interrupt and ask questions but your thread is rather interesting for us as we have recently come back into Rotax.
