" if they feel there is a problem then they may well be worth more than a brush off"

I am not brushing them off. They have stated their opinion in one direction, I have stated mine in another. My opinion carries the same weight, no more, no less than theirs.

They have dismissed any other opinion but theirs as being "following the Tabor / NKRA line" which is a pretty ridiculous sort of answer, since it assumes that simply by being different from a large number of drivers they are automatically right.

I have to say that I have limited acquaintance with these drivers. One reason is because they don't come to any of the National meetings and haven't done for several years unless the meeting is held at their home track.

"For the record,i have no interest in Formula Blue at all(i think the grip to power ratio is completely wrong) "

The same then, only more so, would apply to TKMs, Easykart etc. If it doesn't apply to TKM then you have a problem, an engine of similar power and tyres that were, two years ago less grippy than Blue and now more grippy than Blue. So they must be wrong too.

Are you saying that only one class has 'the right ratio' whatever that might be?

If that class is Rotax, then there are all sorts of posts that 'the class is unfair' because there are different barrels and batches that can give at least as much power difference, especially if you have driver weight differences of 20 kg, let alone the 50kg spanned by Blue.

I have the detailed lap times of the Nationals. Now apart from the novices who took part, the lap times are very similar. There is no way to separate Green tops from Blue tops on the basis of time, quality of driving or the number of passes made. I have broken the results down by distance from the leader, lap by lap, the position and passes on each lap, the consistency of individual lap times and type of engine.

Oddly enough there is one consistent factor, the key to position is consistent laptimes. In his first heat, the winner comes from 10th across the start, by lap two is doing 35.2 second laps and then does the remaining 12 laps at 35.16 with only a 0.02 variation. He did not actually get to 1st until lap 9

The person who finished second crossed the start in seventh, hits 35.50 at lap 6,35.56 lap 7 35.66 lap 8 36.3 lap 9,35.66 lap 10 and does the remaining 4 laps within 0.17.

When you get into mid pack the times are much more variable. I hit a peak of 36 dead on lap 10 and dropped off 0.2 seconds a lap from then on, my last lap was 36.86, finishing 7th. (I'd had a good start, holding 3rd for 3 laps.)

With that kind of lap time variability at a National meeting, I do not think one can blame "the engine" for one's performance out of corners, not when there are all sorts of other factors such as sprocket, tyre pressures, line etc, especially when one admits that it starts off with a 'dive up the inside' and therefore a very variable braking.

Yes, if one was doing Craig's performance, laps within hundreths of a second of each other, even in traffic (the graphs are astonishing), then maybe, but for a driver who like me is 'mid pack', the opinion is less reliable and much more subjective.
