It's no good thinking that u have got the seat in a good position it is critical u need to contact the manufacturer of your chassis and they will be able to tell u the exact position of the seat or take it to dartford karting or similar and for about £20 they will fit it for u. Once the seat is in the correct position then u can move the pedals and steering to suit your son don't move the seat forward as u will put the whole balance of the kart out other than the engine it's the biggest amount of weight on the kart the seat and driver combined. Most kart shops sell pieces of lead that are specifically designed to fit on karts keep the lead as low down on the seat as possible and maybe on the floor tray between the seat and steering column fuel tank but u need to find out how much lead u need to carry and then try to evenly fit it to the kart . If u fit to much to one side or to much to far forward it will make the kart unsettled. As for the foam most karting shops sell foam sheets in different thicknesses they r about £10 a sheet and u can cut them to size. Good luck
