I didn't say they were ideal, I said it's what OTK recommend. I also said they made a reasonable start point if you're about 5'10" and about 11 stone. (You'll probably be in an ML or L Tillet, size 2 or 3 OTK seat.)
The flat bottom of the T11 is not at the ideal angle for me. I guess it may be for some people.
The main point of my post is that it's a really good idea to try moving the seat around to see what it does to the feel of the kart in corners, and the consequences on lap times. If people prefer to stick some ideal calculated seat position that's fine, but you'll get less from the kart than if you experiment and test.
