Apologies for the stupid reply, I have an old laptop that if I use it to go on the forum it posts an old post of mine automatically!! Weird.

On the engine cleaning, always remove the engine from the kart. A well known engine builder uses 'elbow grease' you can you other products, Aldi do one which is a little cheaper and you get more in a bottle. Remove the carb. plug the reed block hole with a plastic plug, plug the airbox - the lid of a large size spray can works well in reverse, plug the airbox inlets - not essential, plug the other bits - fuel pump inlet, exhaust stub etc. Make sure the engine is dry in terms of no water on it as this neutralises the solutions cleaning potential. Use a hot pressure washer. Allow to dry, if you want to go to town dry off with hair dryer - careful with hot air gun, in particular dry off around clutch needle roller bearing and bendix / starter area and spray these areas with WD40 or similar - spray grease for bendix and needle roller, maybe the latter grease by hand to avoid the dreaded clutch contamination. a little bit of work but your engine does keep in good nick.
