You aren't meant to put more than 4 bar(60 psi) in a tyre.
I have regularly found that new tyres will take up to 100 psi, but you do run the risk of stretching the tyre.
An alternative is to use a safety ring, a steel ring slightly more than the uninflated diameter of the tyre and slightly less than the inflated diameter. By restricting the expansion of tread they force the sidewall out. Like a belt only less liable to stretch!
There is a danger inflating the tyres to the high pressure, you do not want to be around an exploding tyre. However, someone did tell me that the safety factor on kart tyres is 2.5, ie they will fail at 150 psi, could be damaged at 100, are OK at 60.
