Genuine starter motors are covered by the Rotax warranty, however the aftermarket units are not but these would probably be covered by the vendor if they were fitted to the intended motor and used in an environment for which they were intended.
Therein lies the problem with many aftermarket products. If they are listed as a replacement for an Aprill RS125 starter and you use it on your Max/IAME/Formula Blue, easykart etc you are very likely to encounter problems under the not fit for purpose guidance as their intended purpose is starting an Aprilla RS125 motorcycle not a race kart. Maybe thats why they are somewhat cheaper than the genuine item. IAME 134.58 plus vat Rotax 98.80 plus vat. Aprilla RS125 aftermarket 35.85 plus vat.
