I could almost taste that pork pie but Ian beat me to it!

I wonder if the dyno can't replicate the load of shifting 135kg of Kart from rest at low revs? This sounds like crank seals letting air in. We've got one engine like that, since alleged rebuild its been a beggar to start yet goes tolerably well once it's running. As we are DD the problem manifests itself as non starting but an electric starter masks that.
