it seems we may be in danger of throwing alot of confusion into what has been a very good format for many years now,we need to keep the changes as simple as possible to encourage new faces to warden law.over complicate it and people will be left scratching there heads and not knowing where they are at.
i think we are all looking to attempt to improve our race days so we can get more out of it.
lets keep it very simple.
no weight change,it seems this is in agreement with the majority.seems we have agreed that.
pro/clubman class will also work if we use an easy format, the idea that people state where they would like to be placed is a little hap hazard and may not give the right consistency throughout the year,i.e a driver who should be placed into pro may opt to go to clubman because he stands a better chance of a pot in that class.i think there would have to be a clear cut alocation as to where you will be placed.this is easy to monitor with the regular attendees.the 3 year suggestion i think is way over the top, however i do believe that this will be the most effect method of driver placement ,it should be monitored over a full season,so if you get 3 top 3 finishes in that season then you get moved up to pro class, for the following season,if in the next season you fail to maintain that level then you move to clubman class.as dan pointed out earlier it could ruin a whole seasons racing for a driver if he was lucky in a final and picked up a third place out of blue and told he has to move to pro when he should realy be a clubman, but if you pick up 3 top three finishes in a season then that is not a fluke and you should be ready and wanting to be in the big league.
the difficulty begins when you have guest drivers arriving for the day,yet this can be dealt with quite easily with current drivers we have i am sure that any guest driver that should be racing in pro would already be known to us anyway, any other drivers arriving for a one off race day would automatically drop into clubman class.
we now need to ask ourselves if we are to undertake this type of format we will have to have somekind of finishing position record for the season so we can promote or demote to the correct class.who will record this and advise drivers of there class alocation?
also during the race will the grid be split and will clubman class have to give way to pro class via blue flags?
still those are my thoughts
happy debating to all.
