Buy Back is also like socialism for karting, it redistributes the good engines from those with more money than sense and perhaps no talent to those with little money and bags of talent.

Let the money no object dads buy a new fast engine every meeting, by the end of year one they will have helpfully paid for half the field to be at the same level.
