I spoke with Ian today and as I thought splitting the Clubman and Elite prokart grids will not happen unless there is a considerable increase in the numbers of both. For the avoidance of any doubt "considerable" was not defined but assume it is big!!!

So lets re-think how the race is to be considered. Clubman should be treated as a class within a class racing for points and trophies in the clubman championship (no different from the National class in F3). Elite will do likewise, however, in the race we are still all racing together for the overall position. Accordingly it may be possible for a clubman driver to win and come 3rd overall. Race the karts in front or behind regardless - it is a race. Big grids is what we all want and the clubman category simply adds an incentive to emerging drivers to race in a sub-championship but surely the main aim is to beat as many of teh so called Elite drivers as you can. Still to be decieded but the top 3 or so drivers in clubmen will be automatically be promoted to the Elite class along with anyone else that from a scan of the time sheets is clearly quick enough.

It is already working and while nothing is perfect it is a significantly more successful series than anything else run in the region. PF can split grids because it is a Prokart only event and they get 60+ (never mind Subaru). Grids are up on last year and most drivers seem to be enjoying the format.

Hope this makes sense.

Graeme
