1) you don't really need anything special helmet wise, as they are non msa, just don't turn up in a bicycle helmet! (have to be full face)But i wouldn't buy a old banger because a helmet could save your life, unless you have a hollow one.

The trolley, i'm not sure. I think you should just ask a marshal that stays in the pits to bring you a trolley if you have an off.

As for purchasing a kart, i might be wrong but you can tell if they are race prepared if the fuel tank is in between your legs? Is the Ł1700 - Ł2000 for the kart or for a whole package? Its pretty much always cheaper to buy a whole package.(spares and tools included)

P.S. Although Warden Law is non MSA they're are still rules and regulations.
