Hollow is actually stiffer. 9 times out of 10 on a prokart the hollow axle is the way to go. Changing the axle can have a huge effect on the kart but you will never know what's best until you have back to backed them, which is a fairly big test session! Regardless of this your chassis was probably designed to run a hollow axle.
