Hollow can't be stiffer, it's more springy. So potentially there is less chance of it bending in normal use. If it gets a bit of blunt force trauma it'll bend, further. It's just young's modulus!

A lot of the hollow axles are made out of higher grade material... although you can get an EN16 solid from kart components which will be quite stiff but has a risk of being brittal.

Try and give it a straighten or get a new hollow one from Kart Components, I think most people use their 30mm hollow (7Kart, most MS customers, etc...)

It has 5.75mm wall thickness, you probably don’t want to go below 5.5mm there are 5mm axles on the market, but you can bend them clipping a kerb if you’re unlucky.

You also don't want a heavy mass to rotate the lighter the better, which is another argument for a hollow axle. You've got an advantage which is you can place weight were ever you like take advantage of it.
