What revs do you get from the engine on the trolley? What maximum revs on the track?

The tooth out theory sounds possible but unlikely, the actual adjustment required is a fraction of a tooth.

Were you also sure to get the rings the right way round?

Has the flywheel moved? We built a 200 with a stepped key, it did one storming run on the DYNO and then went right off. Turned out the flywheel had moved and sheered the timing key.

Gap the coil. 0.2mm

Clean the carb thouroughly and preferably test with a known good carb.
