I have used both the 30mm ones and the 2 part clamps. Both work but so does a proper fitted bearing. I haven't used either for years and equally have not suffered from my axle moving but you do need to drill a small dimple in the axle to locate the grub screw. If you remove any burrs or high edges all the axle components will still slip off without too much effort.
