Each bleed nipple will assist with the removal of air drom each side of the caliper. You could really do with having it extracted and fitting a new one. (Is this the side that isn't working as well??)

To replace the seals you do have to remove the pistons. Use the pressure in the system to get the pistons to protrude the bore and simply pull them the rest of the way. And don't be scared to keep asking the questions - it is what this forum is supposed to be about.
