I'd agree, something like this, you should always run your own tests, where possible anyway. There's a lot of BS out there, intentional and unintentional and you should not believe all you're told.
Although tappets should be set cold, you can use one of two methods to make quick changes. Either count the degrees of rotation of the adjuster bewteen various settings when cold and repeat when hot. Or use an airline to cool the tappets, this takes surprising little time.
The Exhaust tappet can be a fiddle to set because the rotator drags the rocker over. Get used to just holding the rocker square with one had while using the feeler guage in the other.
