Graeme.
I used a new coil, lead and cap assembly. I'll re gap the coil just in case.
Dont know when the bottom end was last rebuilt as the engines were bought 2nd hand from a guy who had raced with them and had reasonable results. The bores seemed fine and still had signs of cross hatching.
I forgot to mention in my list of things that the rockers were replaced with new ones 1 race ago as part of the top end build.

Roadrat.
I tried both engines with the same debaffled exhaust, so cant be that.
I'll strip the top end again and check everything is moving freely.

Cheers for all the help and suggestions guys. I'll sort it ... eventually.
