Indeed, the best material for your first floor tray is cardboard.

Measure, cut, score, bend, bolt in place and trim.

Then unbold and use as a template for the real one.

Oh yes, use cardboard of the same thickness as your intended floortray. If you use thin cardboard and thick plate it wont necessarily fit. DAMHIK.
