I have an alloy floortray that I got from Dartford Karting. It must be no less than 1mm thick and pretty flexible. Before I fitted it I had a very stiff 3mm thick home made alooy checker plate one. The thinner one transformed the handling, giving me .75s around Bayford.

ITPRO is completely right - the only right answer is to try different things and see what works for you and your kart.
