Thanks for all the advice and pointers.

In response to the governor - I can confirm it's been removed. I did take the engine apart the other week just to check that there was nothing in there! It's got an aluminum flywheel that some say advances the timing slightly (4 degrees). I re-did the clearances in line with the GX200 manual.

Think I'll start checking that plastic thing, i've got a spare carb to try as well.
