The biggest problem is that 2/ already have such an engine. the most popular class in teh country too - called Rotax.

This was supposed to be a cheap commercial/corporate engine but its popularity took off and so the exploitation arrived.

TKM 4/ seems like a sensible step forward. See it close up this year and opened my eyes to just how good this engine is, sensible price, good reliability and not massive rebuild costs or silly intervals. Shame it has not captured the imagination at club level - decent super 1 grid this year with both Juniors and Seniors options.

But the prokart will always have a place in UK karting. Stability of the regs has assisted but for me it is the friendliness of the paddock in this class that continues to appeal coupled with the closeness of the racing. The engine builders are still finding little bits hear and there but the big steps have been found years ago. Out of the box engines are also good and still cheap. Tyres last for ages and most is done away from the MSA!!
