If the system is in bits you can use a commpressed airline as a substitute for brake fluid. The pressure will move the piston up the bore and because it is not sealed as soon as you switch it off or take it away the piston will stay protruded. Simply pull it out th erest of the way and the seal sits behind it and is simple to extract.
