Young's modulus... assuming a solid and a hollow are made of the same grade of steel. The solid is stronger, but the hollow is springy and lighter (so that has an impact on your rotating mass).

It's probably that your buying cheap hollow ones, the material quality has a lot do with it. I'd suggest the 30mm hollow from Kart components, 5.5mm wall and it's made of a quality material.

They do an EN16 solid, but I thing for a non corporate kart they are probably too brital for race chassis (they're OK when you've got wrap round bumpers)
