I do not have a definitive answer as to why none of the elite class engines were scrutineered but I do have some possible reasons why this was the case.

MS Lucas Racing race all over the UK and contest the European Prokart Endurance Championship. As a consequence their engines are regularly looked at by none other than Kelvin Nicholls, (the man who drew up the current GX160 regs) himself, and have always been found to be 100% legal.

Welshy's engines have been scrutineered over several years at Warden Law, PFI and elswhere throughout the country and have always been found to comply with the regulations.

MS Lucas used RPM engines at the weekend as did the four clubmen who were checked and found to be compliant.

Most of the other regular front runners have also been checked many times and no problems have come to light.

For these reasons I suspect that the organisers chose to focus on the clubmen where there have been problems in the past. Having said that I have no doubt that they will scrutineer the elite class in the future.

By keeping it random it should protect the integrity and credibility of what is, without any doubt, the best and most competitive Prokart club championship in the UK.

As an aside, last weekend had nothing to do with power.... the fastest lap of the weekend was nearly 2 seconds away from the lap record. It was more to do with set up, consistency and not making mistakes under pressure.
