My first post, I am 50 years old and have raced many things in the past, including 2 strokes that go like sh..t of a shovel, but I went ProKart because it was very good cost effective racing against some old men like me who still want to have a bit of fun without all the smelly oily mess a 2 stroke makes. and the cost is no where near if you stick to a std set of GX160's, I agree a modern 2 stroke engine is a work of art that can produce mind boggling power for its size, but you cant test all day every day, and the rebuild and running costs do not compare, If I wanted to feel real power I would go long track f1 Karting.
