Since the early 1960s, people have had a 'downer' on 'split-links' in kart chains. Many 125gbox and 250cc karts used to use them (and may still do, for all I know) when we had 49bhp and 98bhp, respectively and THEY didn't fail.

I used to use one in my 125cc Gbox days. I have NEVER seen a failure of a 'split-link' in all those years when we forced HUGE degrees of power though the links..... and yet..... would I use them in a 100cc, 115cc or 125cc to day.... probably not..... God knows why not....

However in a prokart with only 6ish bhp per motor.... why the hell NOT use one?
