As previuosly pointed out though, by the time you convert the engine for the track, the price soon ramps up to about what you can buy a basic race prepared engine. Adjusting the cam timing for example is a 5 minute job for an engine builder. But is virtually impossible on a DIY basis, even if you know what you're aimimg for.

Bear in mind though if you buy a 'standard' race engine from somebody who also offers parts selection then it's possible you will end up with an engine built from the rejected parts.
