Hi Kev.
Whilst i agree there are more useful revs to be had from the gen5 engine, unless it is open/libre style racing, you will end up doing the gx thing by over stressing and shortening the life of the motor. Thus making the class more costly and uneven.
According to those that know, the engine will rev to about 8,500rpm before running out of breath, but abit of work on the head or big valve head from accross the pond will get it revving alot higher. Then you find out how good the improvements are to the bottom end.(The traditional weak point!!)
Having said all that, there is a heavily modified GX200 on ebay with a claimed 20hp. I do wonder how long that will last without some serious attention. When i looked the bidding had reached almost the same as a brand new WF.
