There should be no need to move the motors on the mounts. You want to have them as narrow as possible.
If you've got an XL sized seat that may cause bother. But the middle setting of the 3 should be enough to get round an XL seat.
I tended to put the motors in a rough position (say 20/68 with a 102l chain). Then shoe horn the seat in, mark it up. Pop the motors off then start drilling holes.
You may need to lever the botton seat mounts slightly, just get a big adjustable spanner on them and pull them up. You may also need to cut a bit out the seat around the bo!!ocks area, so it fits round the tank.
It's all very tight, but it fits.
