But..... as you'd expect, there are disadvantages, too.
Firstly, they can 'fidget' and that can take some of the 'feel' away.
They also make a nasty noise as they rattle on the support pins, or whatever, especially at slow speed! Your kart sounds like a bag of nails as it leaves the dummy grid!
Over time, they can wear the pins/splines or whatever.
The disk, strictly, needs to be made thicker/stronger (thus heavier) as they are only 'held' by the pins/splines and NOT by spreading the load against the whole disk carrier.
Finally, because they can 'sit' where they choose, they can 'drag' against the pads when compared to a 'spring-returned' pad arrangement.
Very little in racing is 'all benefit'; it's a balance between good and bad.
