Thin oils simply don't support the bearings properly. To pack the grease, I use my compressor air-line to BLOW the grease in....
However... on the basis that you are going to replace the bearings on arrival... why not simply removed the covering plate, pack the bearings with grease and drive the kart. If not simply pour thickish engine oil into the 'space'?
Removing the covering plate will expose the bearings to water, dust and rubbish and shorten their lives.... Engine oil will not support the bearings as well as grease and thus shorten their lives....
... but.... you are throwing the bearings away, soon, so who CARES how long they last.... so long as they last until the day you want to replace them.
