The cadet dad syndrome is a real thing but we need to remember a cadet driver is only young and as parents we try to protect our offspring and when we see our child been treated incorrectly we respond and generly we respond at the level or greater than the level of injustice we feel.I am not invovled in cadet karting anymore and have not been for over 5 years and no longer compete in karting(car racing). When we did compete the frustration I felt when watching an injustice was much less when I could see the offending party get delt with by the officials. Unfortunately it doesn't happen a lot so parents do it themselves those that can afford to protest do hence the reason for the large amount of protests.
As the driver gets older the behaviour seems to change to one of paybacks so if a driver punts you off he or she is added to the list so when you get the opportunity its payback time.
My lasting impression when we competed was a bit of a free for all with not much being seen on the track so the risk of getting away with an on track injustice was high so it went on all the time.
The marshalls do a job and without that racing would stop but sometimes the quality is substandard and eventualy you have to accept it or vote with your feet we did the later but to be fair still miss a lot about karting.
