As Andy said on the general forum, more to do with the power and torque curves than overall peak HP. Our original engine peaked at 6.87hp which is good, but tail of the curve was rubbish so he was losing pace on the straights.
I'd agree that the top engines seem to be around the 7.1 peak HP figure, but unless you have the right curve, you're toast! :)
