Towards the end of the 2010 season Bob Pope wanted to introduce a class of £500 engines. They would be straight out the box, degoverned with GX200 head gaskets. Any "fast" teams would have their own engines "confiscated" and replaced with "organiser prepared" engines. Hopefully, the fast teams would still be just as fast but the "cheating" soubriquet would no longer apply. At the time we were very interested to see how the "organiser prepared" engines would perform against the "super" engines. In fact, at Teesside a kart was prepared and raced for a few hours against the "normal" karts and was not miles off the pace.

But, teams still want to rely on equipment they personally have prepared.

I believe organisers would support any sensible "buy back" system and ensure that any engines that the organisers were responsible for , were up to scratch.
