There will always be exceptions, granted and while Jeff's comments are totally valid to me the reason the right engine suffers as you have experienced is due to the fact that the air box sits over the right wheel. Accordingly all of the spray that is being pushed out of the tyre due to the centripetal force will wash over and amongst the air intake. The foam air cover will stop some damp from penetrating with an application of light oil but in flood situations you have no chance.

If you take the bowl off the carb I would put money on their being water in there and unless there has been divine intervention at the circuit you race I have still to hear of a gx160 that runs on good old H2O!!

In the dry and dusty circuits it is, more often than not, that the right engine fails/blocks jets as the dust/dirt is thrown off the right rear tyre into the air intake.

I did see a driver attempt to guard against both with tank tape, however, was pulled by scrutineer whom suggested that if it wasn't removed he would be dsq.

There is little you can do save for avoiding the deep puddles, especially on the right!
