This sport is full of confusions - I wouldn't worry. Stick to what you know to be correct and you will be fine.

The Chinese copies are to be avoided as you have no idea what you are actually getting - even for practice. Some might actually be better but there are others with experience of these motors on here that can tell you some true horror stories.

The regulations are there to try to keep the class as controlled as possible with a mass produced motor designed for other purposes. They are quite clear on what you can't do - simply put unless it says you can in the regs you can't. To the best of my knowledge there are components of the T1 motor that you can't use in the T2 for example and vice versa which is no different to the initial introduction of the E spec engine way back. Adding clone/OEM parts would just make matters a lot harder to control unless we all decided to go open tuning.

I carry loads of spares that I have picked up over the years and I always have a couple of spare carbs cleaned and ready. New they would have been stupid money but 2nd hand they have definitely been worth the investment. Keep looking on the Market place on this site and even ebay for those selling up. Might be a bit more than £15 but you will know that if you do have to bolt it on for a race you will be legal.
