doesnt effect me whatever changes are made as we not racing but my observations from running both tyres last couple of years.

I bought a 2 new set of Dunlop tyres in May 2011 for both karts the kids were racing and they raced and practised on them all 2011 and right up to July 2012 before I bought new and at that point both karts were still at the sharp end of the grid putting in fast and consistent times, When I did eventually replace the tyres for the last meeting we raced,(Juy?) Ryan did go slightly quicker saying the tyres had more grip and felt planted and on the day posted the fastest lap but Dan actually went slower as he complained of having too much grip !so from my point of view our old Dunlop tyres had done hundreds and hundreds of laps over 14 months had been sat oustide over the winter in a cold van and were still fast with no noted loss of pace.

Bridgestone tyres. first endurance event we did I got a set off bob out the bin that had done the 24 hour and as expected they worked but were slow. I got a set from a fellow racer that had done 6 hours to do the next enduro and again we were off the pace.

I bought a new set when Teesside sprints switched to them from Kartline as we all did tht raced there at the same time for the first meeting . times were immediately faster and drivers reported tyres came on earlier than the old tyres we had run , this all seemed fine till one of the front drivers bought a new set after a few rounds and immediately found pace , we then all then had to buy new to be competitive.

when I sold up Dan continued to race Teesside on James kart and was as quick as he was on his own kart running at the front, racing on a set of Bridgestone tyres that had done 2 meetings, Ross bought a new set and the transformation was noticeable In particular in cold and wet conditions.

So for me a switch to Bridgestone is the wrong choice for Sprinting as you you could be chasing tyres in a budget class, unless a circuit can police how many sets you are allowed to run, for example restrict only running 2 sets a year like they did when we first raced in TKM junior.

but for me more of a problem for me at Warden Law is the wet tyre choice, Ive never driven another circuit where good tyres can make such a difference, there is eye site in how much more grip a new tyre offers and they seem to drop off after as little as one heat, So again those with bigger tyre budgets can easily buy there way to the front, I have never tried a bridgestone wet so cant comment on there durability , but having raced in the wet on Slicks I really don't that is a solution, I can imagine a new driver coming to the circuit and after one lap put the kart in the trailer!

From the people I have spoken to racing in Cadets and Prokart there is more of a concern with the T2 / T1 engine debate which ultimately I think will reduce Prokart grids this year.

good luck to all those racing in 2013 .

Jeff
