No response as yet but you have to question the point of a class representative if the club doesn't ask specific opinion before publishing regulations!

Gary, we have been the odd ones out in the pro-karting community for some time. Until last year the Dunlop SL1 was the MSA tyre, however, nearly every other series in the UK had switched to the Bridgestone and the Honda Challenge moved last year (technically they can use both but the drivers agree to only use the Bridgestone). Historically the SL1 was a sprint tyre while the YDS was used for endurance but at that time prokarting had A,B and C finals and if you have watched the youtube video from 1998 you will see that PF had a massive grid of Enduro racing.

You are correct that the club runs a non-MSA race series but we have always run close to the spirit of the regulation with MSA officials and scrutineers. It makes perfect sense to keep the technical regs the same as it means anyone who races elsewhere can simply turn up and race without having to go to the expense or hassle of having to WL their kart. Tyres, to be fair, was not a barrier to attracting big grids in the past. In my view this was due to the nature of the racing and the profile that we had achieved which included numerous current and former British champions.

Clubman has gone. It was a vehicle that served its purpose but with grid numbers sub 20s how can the club justify trophies and administration for a sub-class. No other class has had this (or needed it to be fair). Cadets, for example run as one grid despite there being 3 Cadet engines (now 4). Historically there was a separate Honda and Comer grid (can't remember about WTP) and similarly with Rotax and Billand. Both have been run as libre grids for years.

The T2 position will not impact grid numbers in Seniors. If anything it might equalise engine performance better than the current SP situation.

This is our club. The club pays KNE for race days and although I am not privy to the accounts I am led to believe that the club is marginally self funded. Management of this situation could of been handled considerably better. Perhaps we have been spoilt in the past pre change of administration but I am certain that this will be resolved. Otherwise we will go elsewhere to race and with Teesside on the same YDS tyre it means we can go racing twice per month in the North East without the need to carry two sets of slicks.

As I have state previously if I hear anything I shall post on here.

Graeme
